Speedway Children's Charities Supports Children's Cancer Community
Children’s Cancer Community is an organization that was formed in 1997 by a 13 year-old cancer survivor in order to help other children with cancer. Based in Sonoma, the non-profit has provided support services to more than 180 children with cancer and their families in the San Francisco North Bay Area. All services are provided at no cost to the families and include support groups in three cities, a Memorial Scholarship program, a cancer library, and fun activities.
The latest fun activity included an invitation from Speedway Children’s Charities for 34 family members of children with cancer to spend August 21st at the Grand Prix of Sonoma. Lunch and hospitality were provided by Firestone Racing and several other children’s charities. Hosted by Denise Silver of Infineon Raceway’s Speedway Children’s Charities, the families had a memorable day at the Indy races. They were able to tour the pit and garage areas and to meet some crews and drivers. It was fun even to just relax in the Firestone tent and watch the races. It was a great day for everyone!
Speedway Children’s Charities has been a key supporter of Children’s Cancer Community since 2002. During that time $68,400 in grants has been awarded to support the organization’s primary service – their family support groups in Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Thank you to Infineon Raceway and Speedway Children’s Charities from all the families at Children’s Cancer Community!
