In Sonoma County, more than 25,000 children daily face the threat of hunger. Nutritious food distributed by the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) makes it possible for these children to have a healthy start in life. During the last eight years, support from Speedway Children's Charities has helped the REFB to create a variety of programs that provide children in low-income families with groceries at home, healthy snacks in after-school settings, lunches during school summer vacation, and food for weekend meals. Speedway's partnership with the REFB has helped to provide food for more than 300,000 meals for children like Monica who rely on care packages from the REFB for nourishment that helps them to go to school ready to learn and to grow up strong and healthy.

Since 1987, the REFB has been improving the lives of families, seniors, and children living with hunger. This year, the REFB will distribute over 11 million pounds of food-the equivalent of 8.5 million meals-giving 60,000 people every month an opportunity to live healthier, more productive lives.
