Needy Sonoma County youth benefit from Infineon Raceway Chapter Events
This marks the third consecutive year that the Infineon Raceway Chapter has topped the $500,000 mark. This chapter has distributed more than $2.6 million since 2002 to needy youth in Sonoma County.
"The entire proceeds from the Speedway Children's Charities donation goes to providing recreational activities for children with cancer and life threatening illnesses" said Bob Burke, founder of Bob Burke's Kids, an SCC grant recipient. "There is a lot of love that goes on here, and we are so appreciative of the support".
In all, the chapter hosted 13 events in 2007 and will hold its first event of the 2008 season on Saturday, March 8 at the 6th annual Tour de Charity. This event is held at the Infineon Raceway lightning-quick kart track and includes a day of karting with some of the top NHRA POWERade Drag Racing stars including Gary Scelzi and Cory McClenathan plus autographs, equipment, and lunch, plus the chance to compete in a 10-lap timed race at the end of the day for "King of the Track" bragging rights.
