Charity Spotlight-The Willmar Center for Bereaved Children
Thursday, March 23, 2006
The Infineon Raceway chapter of Speedway Children's Charities distributed a record $554,000 to 54 Sonoma County non-profit organizations in 2005.
The Willmar Center for Bereaved Children, in Sonoma, which is funded by SCC, is just one of many organizations which serves the great need of the underserved children in the community. Bereaved children grieve silently and often alone. The Willmar Center provides a safe, healing environment and compassionate support for children and teenagers grieving the death of loved one. The Center also extends support services to the family, schools, and community and to children living with a family member who has a life-changing illness.
Trustees from our Board have visited the Willmar Center and been very impressed with the various programs they offer to these children. In addition, there are no fees charged for these services and children in need are never turned away. This non-profit is totally supported by private funds.
The Infineon Raceway Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities takes pride in being able to make a difference in the lives of so many needy children.
